LinkedIn Account Safety

Your LinkedIn account is worth more than any lead. Every layer LeadPinger puts between automation and your account, and the honest part about risk.

Automated outreach on LinkedIn is a trade: reach and consistency, in exchange for risk to the account doing the sending. Most tools maximize the first and shrug at the second. LeadPinger is built the other way around: every default assumes your account must still be healthy a year from now. This page lays out all the layers, and, because trust requires it, the part that cannot be engineered away.

Layer one: behave like a person

  • Sending hours. Automated sends go out only inside the sending hours you set for the account, on its own clock, weekends included or not. Robots work at 3 AM; your account does not.
  • Spread, never bunched. Each week is spread across the days, never more than a fifth of it in one day: 15 connection requests a week means at most 3 a day. Waits mean "about a day" the way a person means it, and nothing ever bursts.
  • The polite sequence. The default sequence sends a connection request with a note, waits a day before the DM, and follows up once at most, because that is how a person behaves, and it also simply converts better.

Layer two: the warm-up ladder

Every LinkedIn account starts at stage 1: 15 connection requests, 3 DMs and 3 comments a week. Each clean week moves it on a stage, to 70 connection requests, 7 DMs and 7 comments at stage 5, and once it is Unlocked you choose your own numbers, up to 100 connection requests a week. LinkedIn's own limit on connection requests is weekly, which is why the ladder counts weeks, not days. Sends you click yourself count too, on purpose: there is no way to spend past the ladder by clicking faster.

Layer three: the Safety Check

The first time an account connects, LeadPinger reads it: its connections, its profile photo and its headline. LinkedIn doesn't show an account's age, so age never counts. The check never blocks. Anything short of Ready starts slow, moving on every two clean weeks instead of every one, and a Not yet verdict holds the account as Waiting for you until you choose Connect anyway or Disconnect account; nothing sends from it in the meantime. Accounts connected before the check existed were not checked.

Layer four: the watchdog

LeadPinger watches for the signs that an account is heading for trouble: most of its connection requests being ignored, someone calling a comment a bot or an ad, or a restriction on the account. The first problem moves the account back a stage and pauses it for 72 hours, after which it resumes by itself. A second within 30 days sends it back to stage 1, paused until you resume it. A restriction stops it at stage 1 until you have checked the account on LinkedIn and resumed it. A falling acceptance rate is how accounts drift into restrictions; the watchdog turns that drift into a pause and a decision for you instead.

Layer five: instant brakes

  • Pause sending, on the account's page in Settings, Channels: your LinkedIn alone stops at once, without touching the rest of the team.
  • Stop all sending, at the top of Settings, Channels: one button, and every account in the workspace stops sending immediately, while drafts keep queuing so resuming is clean. Admins only.
  • Disconnect: removes LeadPinger's access entirely, any time, from the account's row on Channels.

The honest part

Heads up
Automated tools violate LinkedIn's User Agreement, and you deserve that sentence undecorated: using any automation, ours included, is a risk you choose, and LeadPinger cannot be responsible for restrictions, warnings or suspensions that result. What we can do, and everything above is that, is make the risk as small as engineering and honest defaults can make it. Letting the ladder climb at its own pace keeps it low.

What we ask of you

  • Let the ladder do the ramp. It starts small on purpose and rises only on evidence; you can lower any number with Your limit, but there is no shortcut up.
  • Watch how your connection requests are received, not how many you send. Most of them being ignored is itself a problem that pauses the account.
  • Target narrowly. Every layer here protects the account; only good targeting protects the reputation behind it.
  • When LeadPinger pauses the account, fix the targeting or the note before resuming. Resuming into the same pattern earns the next pause, and a second problem within 30 days sends the account back to stage 1.
Note
The mechanics of every number live in Sending Limits & Account Safety. Reddit and X climb the same ladder, and their Safety Check runs before sign-in: see Reddit & X.
